History

Founded in Sittingbourne in 1974 as Kent Automotive Castings.
Purchased by Charles Baynes plc in 1985.
Purchased by Pacific Aerospace in 1998.

Product Range

Sand castings to Aluminium & Magnesium specifications.

Aeromet produce castings for a comprehensive range of products including, Aircraft escape doors, fuel pumps, fuel heaters, Aero-engine heat exchangers, air intakes, Aircraft windscreen canopies, high performance motorsport engine components and gearboxes.

Scope

Aluminum castings 2m x 1.5m x 1.5m, maximum cast weight 500kg
Magnesium castings - 2m x 1.5m x 1.5m, maximum cast weight 250 kg.

Aeromet use their experience to determine the best grain size, shape and purity of sand. Pattern equipment is manufactured by 5 axis C.N.C machine centres using low wear resins, which ensures dimensional consistency and longevity. Environmentally friendly chemicals and gases are utilised for bonding the sand, which is recycled on site. Aeromet have received EPA (Environmental approval) from SBC for their adherence to the latest legislation.

On site facilities include comprehensive chemical / mechanical test analysis equipment including a direct reading spectrograph (Which analyses the material composition of alloys before they are cast). Post-casting facilities include penetrant flaw detection, heat treatment, chromating and x-ray.
Aluminium material specifications cast includes the non-standard A201, A206, A356, A357, C355 alloys and Magnesium to specifications RZ5, WE 43, Elektron 21, and MSRB.

Castings are produced to tolerances as stated in ISO8062 CT8
Minimum wall thickness: - Aluminium 3mm, Magnesium 4mm.

The site also has a fully equipped machine shop with C.N.C machining centres, complimented by C.N.C co-ordinate measuring machines.

The site is BS EN ISO 9002 approved as well as holding approvals for aerospace companies including BAE systems, TWR, Boeing, and Bombardier.
