Founded in Worcester in 1973 as Deritend Aluminium Castings.
Acquired by Christie Hunt in 1987

Product Range

Specialists in the manufacture of High mechanical property Aluminium castings using Sophia and conventional Investment casting techniques.

This facility specialises in the production of Avionic chassis’, structural airframe components, overwing emergency exit doors, pump bodies and other pressure tight structures.

Scope

Aluminium castings - 1.5m x 1.5m x 1.5m

Wax Presses. 4 x 50 tonne, 3 x 30 tonne, 1 x 30 tonne Water Soluble.
Shelling Robots. 1 x 800lb. lift capacity & 1 x 1500lb. lift capacity.
Autoclave 2.0 m diameter.
Melting Furnaces 2 x 400 kg and 1 x 300 kg melting capacity.
Sophia plant.

This facility has the capability to produce Aluminium investment castings with a maximum capacityof 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5 m, by utilising conventional and the ‘Sophia’ high strength casting process.
The Sophia process allows customers to design cost competitive castings to replace fabrications and machined from solid components, as a result of its ability to enhance mechanical properties of standard alloys by up to 20%.

For all new castings Aeromet, where applicable, are able to supply a full F.A.I.R. pack consisting of a dimensional report, radiographic technique and films, mechanical test results from either appended, separately cast or integrally cast test coupons.

This site is BS EN ISO 9001: 2000 and AS9100 approved.
The company also holds approvals from major aerospace and defence companies, including Airbus, BAE Systems, Bombardier, Smiths Group, Rolls Royce and Boeing Commercial Airplane Co.

Worcester also holds Boeing approval for the high property aluminum casting material specification BMS7-330.
