Aeromet are pleased to announce that Fred Feiertag, an expert metallurgist with over 40 years of experience in casting and foundry technology, has joined the company to provide support to the A20X® team and customers in North America.

Fred brings a wealth of experience in aerospace castings gained over a career that has included 30 years as a metallurgical engineer at Boeing.

Aeromet’s Managing Director Simon Holliday commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to welcome Fred to the team. After a long time in development the A20X® aluminium alloy is now fulfilling its potential and delivering real cost and weight benefits for our customers. From his base in Seattle Fred will be well placed to provide support to our North American customers as adoption of A20X® continues across the aerospace and defence industries”.

Fred Feiertag commented: “Having been aware of the A20X® alloy during its early stage development I am delighted to be joining the team now that A20X® castings have entered production. I am particularly excited about the potential offered by new developments of A20X® technology, especially AM205 powder for additive manufacturing”.

A20X® is the world’s strongest aluminium casting alloy and is the first new aluminium alloy to be brought to market for the aerospace industry in over 40 years. A20X® is now MMPDS approved and offers significant opportunities for weight and cost savings. Aeromet are continuing to develop new applications for A20X® technology, including AM205 powder which is now being used for additive manufacturing.
